USO Japan’s 2023 Salute to Service Awards

On November 9, 2023, the USO Japan Area Office honored 14 outstanding individuals from U.S. and Japanese service branches. Guest of honor who celebrated our award winners for their commendable community service in Japan throughout the year include C7F Deputy Commander RDML Amy Bauernschmidt, USFJ J4, Col Stanley Calixteuso, Indo Pac VP, Scott Maskery, USO Area Team, and community members. These awards recognize service members who excel in their careers and contribute substantially to their communities. Recipients are chosen based on their commitment to volunteerism, professional development, leadership, and personal achievements. The celebratory event took place at the Officer’s Club in Yokosuka, where award recipients, coworkers, and family members came together to applaud the winners, accompanied by an enjoyable performance by the U.S. 7th Fleet Band & Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force joint band.
