USO Yokota Welcomes the Coast Guard for a Birthday Celebration
On August 1, USO Yokota hosted a spirited celebration in honor of the U.S. Coast Guard’s 235th birthday, bringing together members of the Yokota Air Base community to recognize more than two centuries of service, sacrifice and maritime excellence.
Yokota Air Base, Japan is home to Coast Guard Far East Activities (FEACT), the Coast Guard’s forward-deployed presence in the Indo-Pacific region. From this strategic location, FEACT supports operations, inspections and international engagement across the Pacific Rim, underscoring the Coast Guard’s global reach and critical role in maritime safety, security and cooperation.
As part of the celebration, USO Yokota invited 15 active duty Coast Guard members and their families to enjoy a special birthday lunch held in their honor. The event was created for them to relax, connect and feel appreciated for their service in the Indo-Pacific region.

From themed trivia to a delicious birthday cake, the lunch blended fun and tradition while highlighting the enduring legacy of the Coast Guard. The USO’s efforts created an inviting atmosphere where guests could celebrate the Coast Guard’s vital role within the broader military family.
Even though there’s only a small number of Coast Guardsmen stationed at Yokota, their mission is incredibly important. We were proud to celebrate their legacy and recognize the essential role they play in the region. Events like this ensure they feel seen, supported and connected to the military community.
Happy Birthday, Coast Guard! Semper Paratus!
